Over-indexing is just the concept of putting more emphasis on something than may be justified. So for instance, I wouldn’t want to over-index on my son’s moods to let me know how I’m doing with my parenting -- he’s 14, and pretty moody these days.

My thinking is that if you're trying to make money from writing, then you should have as many revenue streams as possible, and that can mean writing in many places as possible to see what works where. For example, a story that may not take off on Medium, might do great with your subscribers on Substack. A poem that really lands on Medium, might not translate all that well when you share it on Facebook. There are a lot of ways to get. your writing out there, and I suggest trying as many platforms as possible.
