I hear you, but I want to reiterate what I said in this article: the Boost Nomination Pilot is just one way that stories get Boosted, and Boosting is just one way that distribution happens on Medium. Every month, there are five times more stories that reach large audiences that have NOT been Boosted.
It’s worth noting that the end goal with this beta program is to eventually build these functions into Medium itself so it can potentially scale up to hundreds, and then thousands of folks participating as nominators. The potential goal here is broader community curation -- the opposite of an "elite group of editors."
Building those tools to scale takes time, and we're doing a lot of listening and learning in the meantime. Thanks for being a part of the conversation, but ultimately, I respect every writer’s sovereignty to make their own decisions about where to do their writing.
