I love this! I injured myself last summer trying to learn how to deadlift for a charity meet and healing took me 4 months. When I decided I was ready to start training again, I actually hired a coach to help me because I was so scared of injuring myself again... The biggest thing I learned from her was that I go too hard and need to always lean back from what I think I should be doing. It was really educational to understand that while the voice of my head might tell me that I need to go harder, a power lifting coach who worked with national level athletes was telling me I needed to slow down and listen to myself more. I really appreciate you sharing your experience with this process too, where ultimately we have to slow down and listen instead of just always ramping up and go going faster, harder, stronger, higher.
