I'm so glad you talked about the power of choice. Whenever I speak to a writer who is frustrated with Medium, I lovingly remind them that their primary loyalty should always be to their writing -- never a platform.
Every writer should feel empowered to make the choices that work best for their writing. As a writer myself, this sovereignty is vitally important. Medium is not a parent or an employer. The point at which it starts feeling bad is the point at which it's time to make empowered choices about what's the best for your writing.
I hope that Medium can be a platform that feels good for folks, but mostly I hope that writers never forget their agency and power to make choices about what works for them.
Thanks for this post!
