Thank you so much for tagging me in this super thoughtful post! I shared it with the team, because there's lots of super interesting food for thought in here.

I do want to share that we experimented last summer with providing feedback about declines. We wanted to test the hypothesis: would additional feedback improve the quality of nominations?

Unfortunately, additional feedback did not improve the quality of nominations. In fact, the only significant impact of the test was a sharp uptick in frustration and negative feedback from nominators. Turns out, when a decline comes with a reason, the reaction was often to argue with the reason. It was a disappointing experiment, and we reverted to providing a simple YES or NO.
