YES YES YES. Raised by a second wave feminist mom here, and you nailed it: being femme was seen as vain, stupid, weak. Feminity was seen as being a victim of consumerism at the best, a victim of the patriarchy at the worst. My mom still makes fun of me for being overdressed -- when I have the audacity of going for a walk in a sundress.

Thank you for capturing my experience so well. Second wave feminists really did a number on their kids. The boys got it bad too, with all masculinity deemed as toxic.
